A Testimony of Thanksgiving

Separated by many miles, the Apostle Paul drew upon his memories of friends back in Philippi.  As he sat to write his letter he said, “I thank God in all my remembrance of you.”  (Philippians 1:3)

This is Thanksgiving month in America; a so called “legal holiday” for the general public.  However, for believers it is a day to pause and give thanks to our God for His faithfulness in our lives.  May it never become merely a “holiday” and a long weekend for us.

This month I want to take the opportunity to do something like Paul did and communicate my thankfulness to God for our listeners and supporters.

I.                    THANKS TO GOD THAT WE DO HAVE SUPPORTERS

The Heaven and Home Hour ministry began in 1933 as an outreach of a church in Chicago.  It is heard on radio stations in many areas of the United States.  In order to pay for airtime to place our program on the radio we need the financial help of people who believe in our ministry.

II.                 THANKS TO GOD THAT WE CAN BE ON THE AIR

Qualifying to be a non-profit ministry, obtaining office space, finding dedicated office help, along with being accepted on radio stations are only a few of the hurdles that we have to get over just to be on the air.

III.               THANKS TO GOD FOR THE FRIENDSHIPS WE HAVE MADE

Although I have seen precious few of our supporters I thank God for each one.  Your name has become familiar to each one of us in our office.  For many of you, we know your birthday, your anniversary, and often something about your family.  Frequently I am able to host informal receptions for listeners here and there across the country.  This is a special time for me as I am finally able to meet listeners face to face and shake their hands.  This firms friendships and reminds us of our partnerships.

IV.              THANKS TO GOD!  HE HAS MADE IT ALL POSSIBLE

None of what I have written would be possible without the gracious hand of God.  He gave birth to this ministry and it is He who sustains us every day. Even through difficult times the Lord has been there to remind us that He has called us and he will provide help through our supporters.

For those of you that have contributed to us during 2008, my staff and I offer you our sincerest of thanks.  We wish for you and yours a most wonderful Thanksgiving.
